Growing to Maturity in Christ – Beloved Women – February 5, 2020
READ: “My little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!” (Galatians 4:19 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: The last brownies I baked turned out great-almost. I didn’t let them cook long enough so they were delicious along the outside of the pan with brownie pudding in the middle!
In today’s verse, Paul prays that Christ would be fully formed in the Galatian church. So-called ‘experts’ were using convincing arguments to make them question their completion in Christ Jesus, so they began to think they needed ‘something else’ besides Jesus. The enemy uses similar tactics against us today. He challenges our identity as sons of God by telling us we must earn God’s love. Or he compels us to compare ourselves to people who are further along than we are in some area of life.
No matter what you face today, Jesus inside of you is enough, and you are complete in Him. As we develop our relationship with Jesus through faith in His word we won’t be easily fooled away from all the benefits of sonship, including freedom from bondage as well as the love and acceptance of our heavenly Father. Refusing the lies of the enemy can be hard work, but it’s worth the fight to not end up half-baked.
PRAY: Father, I thank You for adopting me into Your family. You do all things well, so along with acceptance You’ve given me everything I need to live a fulfilling life that pleases You. Help me to stand unmoved against the voices all around that question the sufficiency of Jesus in me. Help me to fully develop as a strong, complete woman of God. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray, Amen.
