Giving Thanks Even When All Is Chaos – Beloved Women – September 15, 2020
READ: “Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” (Psalm 107:8-9 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Among many other things, 2020 has been a year that has revealed much about my character flaws. When stress hit, when literally everything was out of my control, and when there was so much sadness, I admit that the first thing I did not do was give thanks to the Lord.
Did I cry out to God? Almost every hour. While I know the Lord heard me, it was hard to take the focus off of my worries. As days and weeks passed though, through His Word, through people, through encouraging posts, He reminded me of one simple truth. When I give thanks to the Lord, while my circumstances don’t change, my heart is full remembering all I have because of Christ.
I don’t know what the next months or year will hold. For me, for my family, for friends, for everyone, but I do know that every day I have something to be thankful for. Praise the Lord for that!
PRAY: Lord, thank you for so much. For Your gift of salvation and Your many promises that bring me hope, peace, and joy. May I see today all I have to be thankful for. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: Take some time to give thanks to the Lord. What are you thankful for today? Make a list and spend time reflecting on it today.
SHARE: When I give thanks to the Lord, while my circumstances don’t change, my heart is full remembering all I have because of Christ.
