God Does Not Have Favorites – Beloved Women – November 28, 2023
READ: “Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him?”
(James 2: 5 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Fame, wealth, beauty, and prestige are just a few of the barometers the culture uses to determine the value of a person. If we opt to use the same measuring sticks, we will eventually find ourselves feeling like we do not measure up. These attributes are fleeting and they will not last.
Thankfully, God does not determine the worth of a person based on their appearance, status, or amount of money in their bank account. In fact, James lets us know that God does not have favorites. In James 2: 5 (ESV) it says, “Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him?”
God loves us all equally! We don’t have to compete for the love of God because He bestows it freely upon all mankind. Freely He bestows overwhelming, undeserved love on humanity. All we have to do is receive it. Don’t worry if you do not measure up to the world’s standards, because you are already loved and accepted by God.
PRAY: God, Remind me that Your love is not contingent upon anything that I do. When I am tempted to determine my worth based on the world’s standards, help me to remember I am already loved by You. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: How have you seen the love of God in your life today?
