The Magnetic Power of Humility – Beloved Women – November 17, 2023
READ: “The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.” (Proverbs 22:4 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: With the colossal power of electromagnets, the world’s fastest Maglev (magnetic levitation) trains can travel at 375 miles per hour! In the same way that those trains use magnets to effortlessly propel forward, the Lord has made a way for us to propel forward in Him, while attracting His blessings along the way. That acceleration is powered by humility.
In today’s verse, we see that the Lord rewards humility. Humility is the deep awareness and acknowledgement that apart from God, you can do nothing. That concept can be difficult to embrace as the world seeks to write a narrative of self-dependence, self-sufficiency and self-aggrandizement. The word is clear that those prideful beliefs actually lead to destruction (Proverbs 16:18).
Humility recognizes God’s sovereignty. When we lay aside pretense, admitting our need for God, we attract His blessings. Humility attracts grace (James 4:6), wisdom (Proverbs 11:2), honor and favor (Proverbs 3:34). Just like poles on a magnet that can attract or repel, your humility can attract God’s blessings or repel them. Your humility will make all the difference.
PRAY: God Almighty, I stand in awe of Your magnificence. You are the omni-present, omnipotent One. I recognize that without You God, I can do nothing. It is in You that I live, move and have my being. I humble myself under Your mighty hand. And I thank you for richly rewarding my heart of humility. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
