Accepting Christ’s Righteousness as Your Own – Beloved Women – March 10, 2020

READ: “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18 ESV)

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: The walls and floors in my home were covered with debris: broken banisters, sheets of galvalume, splintered tree branches and upturned furniture. Beyond this glaring rubble was another deeply entrenched coating that seemed impossible to clean. Leaves and other debris had been splatter-painted on the walls, lasting evidence of the monster storm that had passed through.

Scrubbing those persistent spots, reminded me of the deep sin-scars splatter-painted on our hearts. In Isaiah 1:18, God promises to remove the crimson stain of our sins. Yet, so often, rather than envisioning our lives and hearts through the blood of Jesus, like a fresh blanket of snow, spotless and dazzling with reflected light, we strive to remove the stain ourselves.

Instead of living in freedom, we get tangled up trying to justify to God why we are worth saving. (Galatians 5:1) But good works and tireless efforts can’t ever remove the stain of sin in our lives. (Isaiah 64:6) Only the blood of Jesus can do that. (1 Peter 2:24)

So today, look to Jesus! Accept His righteousness as your own. Dance in the shower of His abounding love and live the ‘clean’ life He died to give you.

PRAY: Loving Father, You are holy, and I am so undeserving, yet You delight in calling me Your child. Thank You for the incredible gift of Your grace. Free me from the burden of striving to earn Your approval and help me to live in the freedom that Christ died to give me. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.

REFLECT: How have you been relying on your goodness instead of resting in Christ’s righteousness?

SHARE: Only the blood of Jesus can remove the stain of sin in our lives.
