Ready For War – Beloved Women – June 9, 2020

READ: “He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.” (Psalms 18:34 ESV)

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: I remember watching cartoons and marveling at the mighty strength of the superheroes on television, including Superman himself. I wanted to be like them; I wanted that super human power because it looked cool. If we’re honest, we don’t really know what to do with any kind of power once obtained. What would a kid like me do with subhuman strength? Perhaps, show my friends how cool I am.

We don’t know how to handle power because we aren’t properly trained. In life, there are several trainings that we undergo - we must learn to drive a car; we attend job training upon starting a new position; professional boxers have to train for their matches. These are all positive things but what happens when evil strikes? As we walk with God, He trains us. He trains us through His word, (2 Timothy 3:16) and He trains us for war. War isn’t always in the physical sense but there can be a war going on in our minds, in our family, in the workplace and in the spiritual realm. What God wants to remind us today is that He is our strength. It is because of Him that we have power. It is because of Him that we are victorious in war.  It is because of Him that we can cast down thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:5). God has equipped you. The power God bestows is supernatural and He reminds us to wield it responsibly and also as our covering. We have the tools for the issues that surround us, that ail us, we must learn to tap into the source - our Heavenly Father.

PRAY: Father God, I pray for the war going on inside of me to cease by the power of the Holy Spirit. I pray that You would remind me of the power that I have to bend a bow of bronze - that’s how mighty in battle You are. I ask for Your strength and power to arise in me when the war wages on. I thank You for Your protection and for the full armor that we must remember to put on. I am a soldier in Your army, Lord. Whom shall I fear? Thank you for training me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

REFLECT: Are you ready for war? Do you leave your house everyday putting on the full armor of God? Sometimes we take for granted those things that are easily at our disposal. Remind yourself today that you are trained and ready to go.
