Failing to Succeed – Beloved Women – June 8, 2020
READ: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Joshua 1:9 was one of the first verses I memorized. It quickly became my life verse and I often went back to this verse while trying something new or working on my next big dream.
I still think it can be an encouragement in that way, but as I’ve added more years to my life, the encouragement from this verse has shifted a little. It has become a verse I go back to for the times when I’ve failed.
No one likes failure. It’s not easy to deal with and it can be embarrassing. It’s frustrating and can take the wind out of our sails. However, I’ve also learned that life is as much defined by success as it is with failure. Maybe even more so. Not only the experience, but what we do with it.
Gold is refined in fire. There are some things we can only learn through failure. This is where the truth from Joshua 1:9 fills up my heart. God is with me in my failure, will use my failure, and will be with me wherever I go; when I need to pick myself up or when I succeed.
This gives me the courage to keep going and living my life for His glory, even if I know I’ll see failure again.
PRAY: Lord, You are good. You never leave us and will use all things for Your glory. Lord, help me see where You are working through my failures today. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
