Fervently Giving Honor – Beloved Women – June 3, 2020
READ: “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” (Romans 12:10 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Are you competitive? It’s fun to cheer for the winning team! Today’s verse challenges us to be fiercely competitive in showing honor to our family in Christ.
Some sins are easily confessed. Most of us don’t want to say out loud that we struggle with being jealous or secretly wishing for someone else’s life. Who wants to stand up and admit to daydreaming about an accomplished sister’s downfall?
The remedy for such sin is to be relentless in showing honor. We must go out of our way to continuously admire, appreciate, value and esteem those around us; first in private prayer, then with outward words and actions. Let’s outdo each other giving honor and love.
PRAY: Dear Lord, You gave honor to me when you lowered Yourself to become a man and live on earth. Your life here was an example of service and love. I want to be like You. Help me to delight in preferring others and in showing them how much I value them. I repent of all attitudes and actions that tear others down or belittle them. Let my life be a daily, living demonstration of Your selfless love that always seeks to lift others up. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: Make a list of five people to passionately honor within the next 30 days. Pray for them secretly and go out of your way to openly value them
