Finish Your Great Work – Beloved Women – June 19, 2020
READ: “And I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?” (Nehemiah 6:3 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Our lives have a purpose. In the Bible, Nehemiah was focused on his purpose of rebuilding the wall. He was determined to get it finished and told the people who were looking for him that he was not coming down from his “great work.” He was not going to be distracted. Talk about determination!
What about us? Are we that determined to finish the great work that God has given to each of us? Can we push aside the possible distractions of: fear, idleness, disappointment, or discouragement? It takes great energy to stay the course like Nehemiah.
The work of God in your life is important. It is a great work. The distractions can be many. However, God has so much faith in us that He will equip you to complete your assignments.
Don’t give up the God thing for a good thing. Stay the course and see your great work through to the end.
PRAY: Lord, help me today to complete the God given assignments You have for my life. Help me to not be distracted by everything that comes. Help me to focus one day at a time. Let me not come down off my wall, but to stay the course. You have given me a great work to finish. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.
