Send Me – Beloved Women – February 20, 2020
READ: And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Every day thousands of men and women choose to volunteer or work in professions that require them to be sent into the unknown. They make a decision to serve others sometimes at the cost of their own lives.
Isaiah was a prophet who was called to deliver God’s message to His people. Scripture says that in the year King Uzziah died, Isaiah saw a vision of the Lord on His throne. During this vision, Isaiah witnessed pure worship and expressed shame and guilt at his own shortcomings (Isaiah 6:1-7). He humbled himself before the Lord and it was then that he heard God’s need for a volunteer and he simply responded “Here I am! Send me.”
God may not be calling many of us today to the life of a prophet; however, He is still looking for volunteers to deliver messages of love, encouragement, chastisement and warning to His people. We may think we are not qualified or that we are too busy to answer God’s call, but He is simply searching for willing volunteers. If He calls us, He will equip us. God is just waiting for us to respond, “Here I am! Send me.”
PRAY: Father, I pray that I will have the courage to always say “yes” to Your call. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
