Truth Beyond Christmas – Beloved Women – February 10, 2020
READ: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6b ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Do you have verses you only read at certain times of the year? If I’m being honest, I think I’ve only ever read and sat with this verse at Christmas time. And while it is a great verse to share at Christmas Eve services, advent, and over Christmas dinner, I came across it while I was doing some research and it hit me that this is not only great to celebrate Christmas, but a powerful reminder of the characteristics of the Lord.
He is our Wonderful Counselor, meaning we have a source of guidance and wisdom at any moment. He is Mighty. Nothing is a surprise to Him and He continues to work miracles. He is Everlasting and the Prince of Peace. In times that are hard, frustrating, and scary, we have hope in an everlasting God who brings peace to those who call upon His name.
I am so thankful that those promises are for everyday of the year. We can go forward today because He is who He says He is and I encourage you to find additional scriptures to carry with you today.
PRAY: Lord, thank You that You are for us and not against us. I pray that no matter what the day brings, I will remember the peace and hope You give. May I find ways to share this with others today. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I Pray. Amen.
