Wise Friends – Beloved Women – December 10, 2024
READ
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” (Proverbs 13:20 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT
My friends are an embarrassment of riches – they love me, correct me, support me and empathize with me. The pull your companions may have on you is similar to a gravitational pull. The more wise friends you have, the greater the likelihood that you will be positively impacted by them. The converse is also true, which is why the Bible warns us: “bad company corrupts good character” (1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV).
When your values no longer align, it’s a sure sign that you may have outgrown your friends. As with everything, it’s a process, but once you recognize that you may be a companion of fools, sever the chains, then go in a different direction. As the saying goes, “Show me your friends, and I’ll see who you are.” Choose your friends wisely, as they can negatively or positively influence you.
PRAY
Dear Lord, You are the ultimate model of friendship. You listen, minister, and heal. Help me to model Your actions in my friendships, so that I may be a wise friend. I also pray for wise friends that lead me closer to You. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT
Are you a wise friend to your friends? Do you have wise friends?
