Otto I (912 to 973)
Founder of the Holy Roman Empire.
Birth of Otho I, the Great. We do not claim he was a converted Christian. However, as a founder of the Holy Roman Empire, his influence on the church through his heirs would be far-reaching and long lasting. In his own life time Otho gave the church priveleges, but also caused it much discomfort, by deposing Pope John XII and replacing him with his own man, Leo VIII (who is considered an anti-pope).
