Robert Bellarmine was born in Montepulciano, Italy. He became an archbishop and was known for his defense of papal authority. In 1930 he was declared a doctor of the church and in 1931 canonized.
Francis J. Finn was born in St. Louis, Missouri. As a Jesuit priest, he sought to evangelize through writing juvenile literature. Among the characters he created were Tom Playfair, Lucky Bob, and Percy Wynn.
