Richard Mansfield was born in Berlin. His distinction was to become the first Episcopalian to receive the doctor of divinity degree from Yale. He served as rector of St. James Church, New York City until his death in 1820.
Charles Reynold Brown (1862 to 1950)

Charles Reynolds Brown was born in New Haven, Connecticut. A Congregational pastor, he preached widely, wrote numerous books, taught at a dozen major American universities, and researched in Palestine. Convinced that President Abraham Lincoln was the greatest man of the nineteenth century, Brown wrote and lectured extensively on him.
