Birth of German-Lutheran theologian Paul Tillich. He quoted little of the Bible in his works, which were more pantheistic than Christian. It is doubtful that he experienced the saving power of Christ although he worked within a Christian tradition.
Birth of Jesse Irvin Overholtzer. In 1937 Overholtzer incorporated Child Evangelism Fellowship in Chicago. This evangelical mission agency works in over one hundred countries, engaged primarily in radio and television broadcasting, evangelism, literature production and Bible correspondence courses, all geared to children's aptitudes.
