Robert Finley (1922 to )
Protestant
Boxer Became World Famous Evangelist.
Birth of Bob Finley. Finley, who was a nationally-known boxer, rose to prominence when he was invited by Torrey Johnson to speak at a Youth for Christ meeting. His stirring testimony there led to other opportunities. He worked in association with Billy Graham and Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. Visits to foreign countries convinced him that colonial missionary methods had to cease. His call roused widespread opposition and many personal attacks. Eventually he chartered the Christian Aid Mission in 1953, in Washington, D.C. It won converts among foreign students and sent them back to their nations to spread the gospel. Finley personally spoke with millions about Christ.
