He Taught the Bible and Won Souls
Reuben Archer Torrey was born in Hoboken, N.J. A Congregationalist evangelist, he served as the second president of Moody Bible Institute (1889-1908), later as Dean of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA) (1912-24), and the founder of the Montrose, Pennsylvania Bible Conference. Many remember him for his useful and often-reprinted Bible study aid What the Bible Teaches He is buried high above the village of Montrose.
