5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
5 The valiant lie plundered, they sleep their last sleep; not one of the warriors can lift his hands.
5 The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands.
5 The warriors were plundered and left there impotent. And now there's nothing to them, nothing to show for their swagger and threats.
5 The stouthearted were plundered; They have sunk into their sleep; And none of the mighty men have found the use of their hands.
5 Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us.
Matthew Henry's Commentary on Psalm 76:5
Commentary on Psalm 76:1-6
(Read Psalm 76:1-6)
Happy people are those who have their land filled with the knowledge of God! happy persons that have their hearts filled with that knowledge! It is the glory and happiness of a people to have God among them by his ordinances. Wherein the enemies of the church deal proudly, it will appear that God is above them. See the power of God's rebukes. With pleasure may Christians apply this to the advantages bestowed by the Redeemer.
