What are the best comforting Bible verses?
Unfortunately, it is common to become discouraged and depressed with life's misfortunes. Hurt, grief, and fear can quickly overwhelm our minds and spirits. Thankfully, the Word of God provides a profound source of comfort and hope that we can look to for encouragement. We can begin to feel peace and comfort as we allow God's truths and promises to speak over us.
A Prayer for Comfort as you read God's Word: God, I ask that You would grant me that peace that surpasses understanding. I need that kind of peace that rules over my mind despite all my troubles. That can only come from You, Lord. Hold me in Your arms and comfort me. I cannot go through all of this alone, but I know that nothing is impossible with You. Always remind me that You are always there beside me, God, wherever I am and whatever comes my way.
Through it all, God, remind me to stay away from worry. Instead, help me to always look to You for comfort and peace and to trust You whatever circumstances I have in life. You are sovereign, and You know what is best for me. I trust that You still have a great purpose for me; help me to fulfill it, Lord, despite any challenges. In Your Name, I pray, Amen.

1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whatever they do prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 If you say, "The Lord is my refuge," and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 "Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
