Bob Burney was born and raised in Southern California. He is a 1970 graduate of Bob Jones University and received his ordination in the ministry in 1971. Bob also taught the 4th grade in Milton, Florida.
Bob has served as a youth minister in New Philadelphia, OH and Wichita, Kansas. He has traveled extensively spreading the Good News to such remote locations as Mexico, Brazil, Kenya, Tanzania, Romania, Moldova, England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, Ecuador, Nigeria, the Phillipines, Ukraine, Russia and Cambodia as a Minister in Foreign Missions and teaching at Bible Conferences.
In 1976, Bob and his wife, Joy, founded Calvary Bible Baptist Church in Westerville, Ohio. Bob pastored Calvary Baptist until December 2000. Radio has almost always played a part in Bob's life and he has been actively involved in hosting such shows as Victorious Living Today and The Threshing Floor. Currently, Bob is on staff at The Word 880 WRFD as a Liaison to Pastors and hosts a daily call in talk show starting at 3:00 called Bob Burney Live. He was named the Salem Media Talk Show Host of the Year in 2005 and his program was nominated as National Talk Show of the Year by the National Religious Broadcasters - designating it as one of the top 10 Religious Talk Shows in America.
Bob has been appointed to the Ohio Governor's Office of Faith Based and Community Initiative Advisory Council. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Pregnancy Decision Health Center, Citizen's For Community Values and Relationships Under Construction.
Bob and his wife Joy are reaching out yet again through founding a ministry called CrossPower Ministries. During Bob's 25 years of counseling individuals and families- he learned the average believer was not being taught nor was comprehending the actual message of the Cross This burden became intense as Bob and Joy witnessed the discouragement of missionaries, pastors, and church staff. Bob realized that this pain, hurt, and struggles would eventually affect the entire ministry. Bob and Joy see their mission field as those who need to hear and understand that true healing and power comes only from the Cross. They call their ministry "Evangelism to Christians". CrossPower Ministries conducts seminars and workshops nearly every weekend of the year across the Mid West.
Bob is the father of three children and the grandfather of seven.
